Description of Services:
Home support services to improve the quality of life of older adults, people recovering from illness or injury, and people with varying abilities * services assist in living independently
- Congregate Dining Dine-at-home available twice a month * at-home delivery of dinners in partnership with local restaurants
- Falls Prevention and Group Exercise Classes for Seniors Group exercise and falls prevention classes for older adults and people with mobility issues and chronic conditions * aims to improve strength and balance to prevent injury and falls
- Fitness Programs Along with the regular scheduled group fitness class, the Friendship Centre offers a variety of additional fitness classes, including chair yoga, zumba, yin yoga, etc.
- Foot Care Clinic Basic foot care provided by certified foot care practitioners at the St Marys Friendship Centre * foot care includes evaluation of feet condition, nail care, and treating of basic foot conditions
- Meals on Wheels Hot and frozen meal delivery * special diet types available *
- Shopping Services Staff and volunteers are here to help you complete your shopping errands.
- Telephone Reassurance Weekly/daily phone calls and/or security checks are provided to check on the health and safety of older adults who live alone * checks are done by trained and screened volunteers
- Volunteer Visiting Friendships and connection with others is vitally important to maintaining our health as we age.
- Wellness Programs Educational seminars discussing health related education topics such as healthy eating, exercise, chronic disease prevention and overall health and wellness
